Family Comes 1st

My father is very sick.

Some of you know this from my constant Twitter stream or because you know me personally. My family always comes first. Which is why I need to focus on helping my dad recover and be there for my mom. I never thought I would dread a trip to Hawaii, but this is no vacation.

I wanted to let you know, all of my loyal readers, where my focus will be so you don’t wonder why I am not posting new entries to my blog, responding to your beautiful posts or chatting with you on Twitter. At times, I might need to post something to either vent or for a distraction.

We are all hoping for a recovery.

It will probably take a long time.

I am going to miss my children and my wonderful husband.

But I was a daughter first, and right now my mom and dad need me more than my own children.

Thank you in advance

Oh sweetie, I hope everything ends up alright. Good luck and I will totally keep you in my prayers.

    Hugs!

  3. I can relate, because we have been going through a lot of stuff with my parents and MIL. And now I know what the Sandwich Generation is all about. It’s stress city. BUT, my our parents are in the same town as us. So it is much easier.

The simple fact that you feel the need to explain demonstrates how sweet you are! You shouldn’t give it a second thought. We will be here if you need us. We will miss you! But we absolutely understand. Good luck and God Bless!

rachel, you are a good woman. i love it when i hear about people caring for their parents; it is often laughed at in our society, but i think it’s the one of the most honorable and selfless things a daughter (especially one with children of her own) can do to honor her parents. call me old-fashioned, but i think what you’re doing is awesome.

best wishes to your father and hugs for you. xo

Oh Rachel….I am so sorry to hear this. I had no idea until today that this was going on. Glad to hear you dad is off the ventilator. That is great news. We will keep your dad and family in our prayers. I love that you have such a strong bond with your family as my sister and I are blessed with that too!!! Your dad and mom will feel so much comfort in having you there. Hugs!!

  19. I had no idea, either. I feel horrible for you.

My mom was ill for 2 1/2 years. I flew down 1 weekend of every month, even when my 4th was an itty bitty baby, to be with them.

It looks like he is off the ventilator… and I’m praying hard for you, your mom, and your family!

    Love you, girl!! Hugs, Kat
