Wordful Wednesday: When Kids Actually Eat What You Make for Dinner

When my kids actually eat what I make for dinner, it makes me do the happy dance. Because let’s face it, it doesn’t happen very often. Which is why I loved when Tyler ate my Turkey Pasta Bake… and A LOT of it!

However, guess who didn’t eat my homemade Turkey Pasta Bake? You guessed it, Miss Picky herself. She had “plain pasta”- boooorrrinng!!!!

Oh and don’t worry, I just realized that I am behind in posting a Recipe of the Week so coming up will be my Turkey Pasta Bake that Tyler loves so much. Hopefully you will love it just as much!

We are the home to the Kings of Buttered Pasta and Plain Bread around here. They are pretty easy to feed overall but something just don’t make the cut no matter how innocuous they seem to me. Looks like someone enjoyed it though!

Nice. Definitey share the recipe. Mags loves pasta so she’d probably eat it. I made meatloaf last night and she first said “yuck, I don’t like meat” and then asked for 2nds. Kids.

I’m so jealous. I made three different dinners for my daughter last night and was told “I no like it” to all three. Sigh! Will definitely try your recipe.

When my kids like dinner, I do a happy dance, too. Unfortunately, since I have four, there’s always ONE who won’t eat it.

Don’t you love that? I am a big believer in not making multiple dinners – kids hafta learn to eat what is made. Give them one alternative and that’s it. Can’t wait to see the recipe!

There’s nothing like little ones eating stuff with pasta sauce. It just gets everywhere and I love it! :D

  12. Love how he’s got it over his eye too. Looks like he totally dug that recipe!

  13. I still cannot please everybody all the time. I keep red and white sauce on hand. I can even make a cake and somebody just isn’t into sugar that day! Sometimes it’s enough to make you want to pull out your hair – or maybe their hair! LOL

Too cute. I remember those days. Sometimes my kids would eat pratically naked because they’d be so messy. I’ve been blessed with kids who eat everything, but I can imagine the challenge.

Are you kidding? I do a dance anytime the Boy eats something! I don’t know if he is picky or lazy or both!

BTW, love the pasta in the eye area…mine somehow gets it in the same spot!

  16. My kids have been subsisting happily on milk and smog for 2 yrs now. I figure they’ll learn to eat food in school.

  17. You are so right! This has got to be one of the best feelings for me as a mom. I am obessed with my girls nutrition that if they eat a whole meal I fix I sing praises!

Oh honey…I so feel your pain. We have four kids and they’re ALL picky. There is nothing more frustrating than spending time (and I don’t care if it’s 5 minutes or 5 hours) preparing a meal and have picky kids turn up there noses, ask questions about every single ingredient and complain. Makes me want to find a good recipe for “gruel” and make it every night for a week for the little darlings while the Hubs and I eat pizza and McDonald’s right in front of them.
