Yes, you read that title correctly.
You can make lasagna in the crock pot!
You don’t have to boil the noodles…they just cook on their own in the crock pot over time. Boo-yah!
I LOVE the crock pot. It is my saving grace when it comes to dinner in the winter time. I can start dinner earlier in the day since by the time 5pm rolls around, I am about ready to collapse.
My plan is to experiment with more and more crock pot lasagna recipes…perhaps a veggie one? However until then, this sausage lasagna recipe is delish.
Ingredients:
1 lb Italian chicken or pork sausage, casings removed (I buy the Italian chicken sausage from Trader Joe’s)
1 lb ground turkey or beef sirloin (I use ground turkey)
1 medium onion, chopped
2 medium carrots, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes in puree
Salt/pepper to taste
9 lasagna noodles
4 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella
Directions:
- In a heavy pot, cook sausage and ground meat over medium-high, breaking up meat with a spoon until no longer pink. Add onions, carrots, and garlic; season with salt and pepper. Cook until onion has softened. Stir in tomato paste, then tomatoes, bring to a boil and remove from heat.
- Spoon 2 cups of meat mixture into bottom of slow cooker. Layer 3 noodles (breaking as needed to fit), 2 cups of meat mixture, and 1 cup of cheese; repeat with 2 more layers.
- Cover slow cooker and cook on low 4 to 6 hours. Sprinkle lasagna with 1 cup of remaining cheese. Cover until cheese has melted, about 10 minutes.
That’s it! Dinner ready! I also enjoy with some yummy garlic bread and a salad. Oh yeah, and a nice glass of red wine of course!

Okay, now I’m hungry… do you deliver? I L-O-V-E crock pot recipes!
I tried to make this once and it turned it a dusty dry brick. I have no idea what I did wrong.
I suck at crock pot cooking.
You probably didn’t use enough sauce. Also, when you see the lasagna bubbling around the edges, turn it off. Did you cook on high or low? Crock pot recipes are supposed to be easy! Keep practicing!
See, I don’t know what is wrong with me. I can make complicated Persian French recipes with gourmet ingredients but give me a crock pot and I eff it up. Every.Single.Time.
I love my crock pot, but have yet to get a lasagna to turn out. Always ends up burned — seriously, how do you burn something in a crock pot?? My husband told me I can’t try it again

This is one of my husbands favorites! Did you cook on high? Gotta cook on low and then as soon as it starts bubbling around the edges, turn it off. I wonder if you didn’t have enough sauce?
Aha! That’s the problem. I can’t turn my crockpot off when it starts bubbling because I’m usually using my crockpot when I’m working. I think this calls for me to get one of those fancy crockpots with a timer so I can have it turn off or on without me at home!
