Big, Bold Cabernet

Fact: I love wine.

More important fact: I LOVE Cabernet Sauvignon.

Perhaps it’s because I grew up on French Bordeaux.

{Thanks Dad!}

Perhaps it’s just because I am not afraid to be bold, frank and otherwise obnoxious about what I like.

I LOVE Cabernet Sauvignon.

It’s big. It’s bold. It’s dirty.

So needless to say, I am giddy about today.

Today is #CabernetDay

The idea is simple really. Enjoy any Cabernet based wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet blends) and share your experience on social media sites. We all do this on a daily basis anyways, right?

Just in time to celebrate Cabernet, here is a quick and fun list all about…you guessed it: Cabernet Sauvignon!

Fun Facts About Cabernet Sauvignon:

~ Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are small, black and have a very tough-skin. The small grape size gives big flavors to the wine.

~ The tough skins are what give Cabernet wine its hard tannins.

~ Cabernet Sauvignon vines are late bloomers and send out shoots later in the spring. This helps avoid damage from spring frosts.

~ Cabernet is really the off-spring of much older Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc varieties of wine and is consider a “young” grape.

~ Cabernet grapes are very adaptable and grow in almost any climate that is not too cool.

~ Cabernets are meant for aging. Those from Napa and the Bordeaux region of France usually improve over decades.

So what are you waiting for? Sign up and join in on all of the wine fun!

It’s a no brainer really.

Happy #CabernetDay!
